No Lee: possibly No Pettitte: equals no #28
I know that maybe that is a far stretch but it is the truth. Cliff Lee was THE X FACTOR regarding pitching this offseason and he decided to eat Philly Cheesesteaks over New York Kinishes.
Oh well. It’s not like they made a push. They definitely did. He liked Philly so much he left the money on the table. I personally don’t like the decision but I respect him for it nonetheless. Now that I look back on it more intensely, he didn’t seem like the type that would be able to handle the pressure of The Electron Microscope that is THE NEW YORK MEDIA. One false move and you’re already being ostracized and ready to be put at the stake. You saw the implosion of Randy Johnson and were not even going there with Carl Pavano. Greinke would have been awesome in the rotation but I know for a fact he wouldn’t be a proper fit due to his social anxiety problems.
Pettitte could possibly retire which would leave huge gaping holes in our rotation. Not good. The one true constant so far is Sabathia despite both starts this past postseason the offensive bats had to bail him out and you are only as good as your starting pitching. I don’t care what anyone else says.
Your pitching is crap…you’re not going to be the last team standing. Plain and Simple. As of now on paper the Phillies have THE ROTATION…..I repeat…..THE M@%$*& F@#%*%& ROTATION in Major League Baseball and I wouldn’t be shocked in the least if they are the last team standing in The Fall Classic come 2011.
Until my next sporadic blog…..
